James Robertson “Crow” Creed, 78, of Reidsville, NC went to be with the Lord Tuesday February 20, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday February 23, 2018 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Charles Bowman and Daisy Windsor Creed and had lived his entire life in Rockingham County. He worked in the tobacco fields early in his life and started with heavy equipment- taught by his longtime friend Walker McKinney. He worked all over Rockingham and surrounding counties and Virginia. He started Creed Construction Company in 1969 and was well known for his eye for detail and was a perfectionist. Later he started Creed Seamless Guttering, where he worked until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing , hunting, trips to the coast with his family , and cruising especially 2011 for his 50th wedding anniversary. Crow played softball many years and was owner and coach of the Reidsville Royals Softball Team which won a state championship. He was known for visiting friends at Reid’s House and Short Sugars until he was disabled. He spent many hours at Ross’s Store visiting, thank you Lance Spivey and Debbie (Close friends). Crow was preceded in death by his brothers: David Creed, and Charles “Bud” Creed, sisters: Carol Creed, Elnora C. Beck, and Magdalene London.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Rose Orowitz Creed of the home, sons: Jamie Creed and wife Mia of Kernersville, and Michael Creed and fiancé Dana of Reidsville, and a daughter: Anne Marie Shaw and husband Jim of High Point, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, sisters-in-law: Becky Creed, Marjorie Creed, brothers-in-law: Jim and Al Orowitz, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Rockingham County especially Ron Harris, RN, Carrol Poteat and Chaplain Tripp Kimbrough for their care and concern.
The family will see friends 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Thursday February 22, 2018 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.
